New Home for Mary

Mary has been a tenant of PHA homes for nearly 14 years. Health problems meant that Mary was finding it increasingly challenging to maintain her 2 bed house and garden. Also, the walk into Petersfield from her house was getting more difficult in terms of distance to the town centre and is also quite steep in some areas.

When PHA Homes had the opportunity to convert 2 bedsits, close to the town centre, into a 2 bed flat we asked Mary if she would like to consider the move to the flat on completion. It’s always hard to leave a much loved home but Mary decided to make the move and is now happily living in her newly refurbished ground floor flat.

As a result of the move, Mary’s 2 bed house was offered to a family who had been living in temporary accommodation.

Mary’s thoughts on the move and her new home:

‘’ When PHA Homes first offered me the new flat I wasn’t sure that I wanted to move, but my family were worried about me and were keen that I give it real consideration.

PHA let me see the plans for the new flat at an early stage and I was able to make some suggestions for changes, which they accepted. From that point I decided that the move would be good for me and that the accommodation they were offering me would better suit my needs going forward.

I was able to choose my new kitchen and shower room and am delighted with my new home. The flat is spacious, with plenty of storage and the quality of the work and the finish of everything is excellent. My family are really pleased that my new home is so lovely and are much happier that I am living now on one level and can easily access the town centre and all local amenities. I’m really happy in my new home and am already making new friends with my neighbours.’’
