Why did you decide to join the Board?

I’ve worked in housing for many years because I believe everyone deserves a safe, secure, and affordable place to call home. That belief is deeply personal—I haven’t always had that security myself, and I’ve always been incredibly grateful for the support I received during difficult times.

Joining the Board of PHA Homes is my way of giving back. I bring both professional expertise and lived experience, and I’m passionate about using both to help shape housing services that truly meet people’s needs. It’s important to me that we listen, learn, and lead with compassion—because housing is more than just bricks and mortar; it’s about dignity, stability, and opportunity.

What do you bring to the role of Board Member?

I bring a mix of strategic leadership and lived experience to the board. With a strong background in housing and personal experience of housing insecurity and living with a hidden disability, I’m deeply committed to social justice. I’m passionate about helping others access safe, secure, and affordable homes where they can thrive. I approach the role with empathy, integrity, and a collaborative mindset, always focused on the real needs of our communities.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!

I once nearly gave my cardiologist a heart attack when I asked if I could train to race at the Cornish Pilot Gig World Championships. When he said rowing would be good exercise, he meant in the safety of a gym—not out at sea! It hasn’t been a smooth journey, but we both celebrated when my team and I won Group C—placing 25th in the world.
