Why did you decide to join the Board?

I decided to join the Board as I am passionate about creating equitable, healthy, and sustainable homes and neighbourhoods that serve people from all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences. My deeper commitment to social housing stems from working in the sector and a belief in understanding lived experiences; ensuring people have access to services and opportunities to improve their quality of life and sense of belonging. I am particularly driven by the idea of ensuring everyone around the table has a voice and that access is truly inclusive.

What do you bring to the role of Board Member?

I bring a deep understanding of how to amplify resident and community voices in decision-making processes and grounded in lived experiences. Over the past two decades, I have worked as a participatory design and community engagement consultant, coordinator, and researcher within architecture, placemaking charity, and social housing. This has allowed me to develop extensive experience in building collaborative partnerships, planning and delivering community development projects, and leading resident engagement activities.

For PHA Homes and its residents, I believe I can offer a fresh perspective and insights by drawing on my experience of working with communities across England. Professionally, I see this as rewarding charitable experience in the sector, while also contributing to the organisation’s objectives. Personally, I am eager to learn and contribute to the organisation’s mission by building on the great work PHA Homes already does.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!

I have travelled a lot around the world to visit family and research many interesting, unique places. This has fueled an interest in sustainability and cultural heritage, including the part we can all play in conserving and protecting places. Through working with an Architectual practice I travelled to rural France to learn how to make cob bricks, lime render walls, and repair flint walls.
