Anti-Social Behaviour
We know that anti-social behaviour can really affect the enjoyment that people get from their homes and can sometimes mean that people feel unsafe. There isn't an absolute definition of anti-social behaviour but examples would include people being abusive, threatening, or rude; deliberately causing a nuisance with repeated or excessive noise; drug use or selling/buying drugs or causing actual damage or harm.
The everyday irritations of living close to other people - children crying, toilets flushing, televisions or radios during normal hours or the sounds of everyday life going on - these are not actionable issues. For these sorts of concerns, resident need to work together to resolve differences and concerns. We don't have any special powers here as a landlord and solutions worked out with your neighbours will be much more effective and long lasting.
For serious anti-social behaviour, we will always act - working with other agencies such as the police, environmental health or social services to ensure that perpetrators are prevented from causing significant disruption, fear, damage or harm. Legal remedies can take time, especially if there are mental health issues involved as there frequently are. However, this will not deter us from taking action where this is warranted.
